Places in Tay Ninh, north and south of the merger line

Four places carry most visits to the province: a mountain, a temple, a wetland and a border forest with a lake beside it. Each page says what the place is like, how many hours it needs, how to reach it and when to skip it.

How the places fit together

Ba Den Mountain and the Cao Dai Holy See are about a quarter of an hour apart by road and share the same bus routes from Ho Chi Minh City. Nearly every day trip combines them, and that pairing is the easiest thing to do in the province without a car. The local bus 70-2 from Cu Chi bus station runs past the Holy See to the foot of the mountain, according to a 2025 travel blog; coaches from the city stop at the Holy See gate and at Ba Den.

Lo Go–Xa Mat National Park is about 30 kilometres north-west of the former provincial town, on the Cambodian border. Dau Tieng Lake lies to the east, about 45 minutes from town by car. Both reward a car and an early start, and both can be added to an overnight stay near Ba Den. Neither is a natural add-on to a single day from Ho Chi Minh City.

Lang Sen is in the opposite corner: the far west of the former Long An, close to the Cambodian border in the Plain of Reeds. It is about 90 kilometres beyond Tan An. In practice it is a separate trip, often combined with other Mekong Delta sights rather than with Ba Den. See day trip or overnight for the hour-by-hour versions.

Other places you will see mentioned

Guides to the province list more sites than these four. Go Ken pagoda, beside National Highway 22B, has large Buddha statues. The Binh Thanh tower near Trang Bang is an old brick tower of the Oc Eo period. Trang Bang itself is known for its noodle soup, banh canh, and for dew-dried rice paper. The Moc Bai border gate, about 70 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City, draws shoppers to its duty-free supermarkets and is the main road crossing to Cambodia in the south.

We have not written separate pages for them because the facts we could source are thin, or because they work only as stops on the way to somewhere else. If you know them well and can point to sources, the contact page is open.

What these pages do not do

They do not list hotels, restaurants or tour companies, and they do not rate anything. Where costs are given, they are entry fares or price ranges published by a source we cite, with the date we checked. Use them to plan and compare, then confirm the current figure with the operator before you go.

Common questions

Questions readers ask

Which places can I reach without a car?

Ba Den Mountain and the Cao Dai Holy See, by coach or by local bus via Cu Chi. Lang Sen, Lo Go–Xa Mat and Dau Tieng are hard to reach without a car or a hired driver.

Is Lang Sen close to Ba Den Mountain?

No. They are at opposite ends of the merged province. Plan Lang Sen as its own trip, usually from Tan An or as part of a Mekong Delta route.

Are the Cu Chi tunnels in Tay Ninh?

No. They are in Ho Chi Minh City. Many day trips stop there on the way to Tay Ninh, but this guide does not cover them.
